Al referirse a la geografía de su país, que se extiende sobre el mapa sudamericano en una franja norte-sur paralela a los Andes occidentales, los chilenos mencionan sus dos ciudades de máxima latitud: la septentrional Arica, vecina a la frontera peruana, y la meridional Punta Arenas, sobre el estrecho de Magallanes. El autor las fotografió, además de otros puntos intermedios, mientras laboró como Ministro Consejero y Subjefe de Misión en la Embajada de República Dominicana en Santiago de Chile durante los años 2001 y 2002.

ChileNorthSouth is an overview of Chile’s history, culture, and geography.

When referring to their country’s geography, which extends on the South American map in a north-south strip along the western Andes, Chileans mention two cities of extreme latitude: the northern Arica, neighboring the Peruvian border, and the southern Punta Arenas, on the Magellan Strait. The author photographed both cities, and many other points in between, while working as Minister Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Santiago de Chile in 2001-2002.
